British pensions for immigrants
NI Rebate
We all pay National Insurance contributions, but few of us know that some of this money we can recover (NI Rebate) in the form of private pension. Average value of such a return is about 1,650 pounds per year. If we decide to NI Rebate will be paid this money, every year we have chosen private pension fund.
The reimbursement claim can be free and on the Internet. The condition is to have NI Number, and living in the UK at the time of application. NI Rebate is best to decide shortly after arrival, because it is paid from the tax year in which we have tabled the application. Can not get a refund for previous tax years.
What is the NI Rebate?
State pension system in the UK consists of two pillars - Basic State Pension (basic pension) and the State Second Pension (second pillar). Both pensions are funded from our National Insurance contributions and are due to us from 67 years of age. The basic pension is compulsory and equal for all. Currently stands at L 4,953 per year, assuming that przepracowaliśmy 30 years. Each year of service in the UK we will be entitled to one thirtieth of the total. Basic State Pension has also to our retirement years in Poland. If we go back to the Polish receive it under a pension from ZUS. Retirement depends on the second pillar of earnings. The higher the earnings, the higher the premiums State Second Pension and the more we should get under this pillar. The money from the second pillar will have to apply directly to the Inland Revenue when they reach retirement age and paid us to be from the UK (as an additional pension).
The government, however, gives us the opportunity to unsubscribe from the second pillar and to apply for a NI Rebate. If you choose to do so our contribution will go to a private retirement fund, which will replace the second pillar. Next, however, we will be entitled to the basic pension and state. Reimbursement is also not affect our right to free health care.

What does the NI Rebate?
If you choose NI Rebate, giving up the second pillar of the state, gain control over the paid premiums. Our money will be invested, giving us a chance for more profit, while the state guarantees the second pillar of growth at the level of inflation. In the private fund, we have every right to change the investment. We can also easily transfer to a pension fund in Poland or in any other country in which you want to live.
We can start a private pension choice since the age of 55, while the second pillar of the state has the benefit of us only after completion of 67 years (retirement age in the UK will probably have already raised in 2012).
Private pensions also withdraws us from our potential adverse changes in regulations that may affect the second pillar of the state (eg change the retirement age or unfavorable rules for people who will leave from England). In addition, based on its current basis for calculating the state of the second pillar of the NI Rebate is more beneficial for young people (up to 43 years old), those who intend to leave the UK before retirement and those earning more.
How do I apply for reimbursement?
The reimbursement (NI Rebate) can apply for free. Please fill online short form, to print, sign and send to the specified address on the form free of charge. About NI Rebate do not have to try every year. The form opens up a private pension fund in the UK every year which will affect reimbursement. Private pensions in the UK are regulated by the government.
